The compressor is considered to be the heart of the water cooled chiller. It is this element of the refrigeration machine that is used to supply the refrigerant into the evaporator. The main characteristic of a blower is the level of its cooling capacity. This indicator is determined by the amount of heat that is required to evaporate a kilogram of freon.
In practice, the following types of the evaporator are most often used:
- piston;
- screw;
- centrifugal.
Screw compressors are characterized by the highest efficiency and long service life. Centrifugal compressors are commonly used in chillers with high power levels. But reciprocating compressor equipment is used in low-power chillers. In some cases, scroll and rotary compressor equipment can also be used.
Speaking about the features of this element, it is worth noting its energy consumption. In terms of design, chiller compressors usually consist of:
- electric motor;
- oil separator;
- sight glass;
- oil heater;
- screw rotors;
- filter.
Among the main advantages of modern compressors is a high level of reliability. Also noteworthy is high-quality sound insulation and a high level of vibration resistance. Another plus is that this chiller component is able to adapt to virtually any working environment.
Discharge of Heat to the Outside
Moving on to the topic of heat dissipation, you should go back to the capacitor again. This is where this process takes place. Heat is discharged into the environment through the operation of special condenser fans, which suck in air and throw it out.
Condenser fans are considered to be one of the most energy-consuming elements of a chiller. Based on this fact, special attention is always paid to the development of this component. 2- and 4-blade fans can be used to operate the water cooling unit. The first option is characterized by a minimum noise level. 4-blade fans are more powerful.
